This project is currently a work in progress with the goal of enhancing performance and prolonging the endurance of smartphone internal flash memory.

Smartphone internal storage utilizes solid-state technology SSD/eMMC. While SSD provides lower access time and less latency, its performance may degrade over time due to continuous writing, resulting in a measurable decrease in performance of memory cells throughout its lifespan.

'SSD Boost' aims to reduce unnecessary writes on your SSD, thereby improving speed and extending the life of your storage device - a beneficial optimization for your smartphone.

In addition to flash memory optimization, many users have reported improved app responsiveness during startup, longer battery life, and reduced phone temperature after using the app.

Possibly due to 'SSD Boost' acting as a workaround for certain background processes continuously writing to the disk, users across Android versions from ICS to Android 10 have experienced positive results, both on stock and custom devices.

It is important to note that the app requires root access on your phone.

Users should exercise caution if they own one of the following models: Samsung Galaxy R, Samsung Galaxy SII, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Epic 4G Touch. Before installing 'SSD Boost', it is advised to check for the presence of Brickbug, a firmware bug on eMMC chips using the following tool: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.vinagre.android.emmc_check

The TRIM command plays a significant role in enhancing SSD/NAND performance by allowing the operating system to communicate with the controller to erase certain blocks when idle. This process helps maintain fast write speeds by pre-erasing blocks for future data writes.

'SSD Boost' assists in manually running TRIM on your device when needed and performs TRIM on every reboot. It surpasses the limitations of LagFix (fstrim), supporting Android 5 Lollipop.

'SSD Boost' eliminates the tracking of file access times (atime) by remounting filesystems with noatime/noadiratime options. This action prevents unnecessary write operations that typically slow down read operations on a filesystem.

Note:

Some users have critiqued the app's name, 'SSD Boost.' While the term 'boost' may imply speed enhancements, it primarily addresses limitations in SSD technology and the Linux kernel.

Regarding the use of 'SSD,' while 'flash memory' is more commonly used, when a flash memory device implements an interface to a bus, it qualifies as an SSD. Given that every smartphone's flash memory interfaces with a bus, both terms can be used interchangeably.
